Top Five Wedding Trends of 2008

2008 is a year of “bigger is better” when it comes to wedding trends. The dresses are bigger, the receptions are better, and the details that make them both amazing are endless!

#1 Trend: Making Split Decisions

Brides in 2008 are making their decisions easier by choosing two totally different wedding gowns for their ceremony and reception – complete with two totally different hairstyles. Brides are opting for beautiful princess wedding dresses with tightly wound up-do’s for their ceremony and then changing into sexy dance dresses to boogie the night away.

#2 Trend: Wedding Websites Allowing Guests to Vote

This year is definitely not the year of the bridezilla. Brides are including their guests in decision making ranging from what song they should dance to right down to what to serve during the reception. Wedding websites have gained enormous popularity in recent years, allowing brides to connect to their guests all at once with blogs and online polls.

#3 Trend: Vintage Everything

Vintage is definitely back in for 2008. Brides are choosing vintage gowns with delicate embellishments and rings with vintage flare – anything that looks as if your grandmother wore it is back in this season.

#4 Trend: Sample Stations

Instead of having traditional receptions, brides are opting for sample stations for their guests to enjoy throughout the night. Tasting bars offer guests a little bit of everything at each station from smashed potato tasting bars with all the fixings, to wine, cheese, and champagne tasting bars with countless mixers, guests delight in this delicious change of pace in 2008.

#5 Trend: Cover Bands

Yes, cover bands have made a come back. In lieu of the smoke machine and glow stick doting DJ, brides have leaned towards cover bands from their favorite eras. The most popular cover bands have been 80’s and rock and roll – both sure to make your reception one dance filled night to remember!
